Haselmere Hall, Surrey
2023 sees the completion of one hundred years of music making by Haslemere Musical Society. Anna Hunt, a long-time section leader in the orchestra, steps into the spotlight at its May concert. Anna, who studied music at St Peter’s College, Oxford, will be soloist in the Schumann concerto, a cornerstone of the cello repertoire.
The performance is part of the centenary year celebrations of HMS which, uniquely among local music groups, has both an orchestra and choir. The programme also includes:
- Mendelssohn: Overture, Nocturne and Wedding March from music for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” .
- Schumann: Cello Concerto in A minor (Soloist: Anna Hunt)
- Gilbert & Sullivan: Choruses from “The Mikado”
- Clive Osgood: Songs from Three Counties
